Carnegie Heritage Centre

Logon

Our volunteers do various jobs around the centre such as helping people trace their family tree, research topics for books and booklets, research the local History of Hull as well as cataloguing Hull's War Heroes.

Other jobs our volunteers do are giving talks to various groups around Hull, typing up peoples memories, scanning old photographs of Hull, cataloguing newspaper articles to put into our unique box files not to mention our wonderful cleaner, Pat, who keeps the place clean.

We also have a volunteer who sells our publications on line, another who puts items on ebay and we sometimes take a stall at book sales in the area, all of which brings in more income to maintain the building.

Volunteering at the Carnegie Heritage Centre

The Carnegie Heritage Centre is run and managed entirely by volunteers without whom we would not exsist. We help each volunteer to identify their own interest whether it be research, cataloguing, helping with exhibitions, giving talks or any of the numerous tasks it takes to keep the resource centre vibrant and successful.

We ask our volunteers to commit to as many or as few hours a week as they can spare and we are always on the lookout for people with relevant skills relating to Local and Family history or people who are interested in gardening or even cleaning. Every little helps.

A Centenary of Lord Mayors

An insight and a history into the civic life and duties of 100 years of the Hull Lord Mayors. As well as notes of general interest there is also a chapter on robes and regalia, civic positions and the changes in the election wards.

This book was researched and written by David Ostler, a volunteer with the Carnegie Hetritage Centre.
